Ceramic

Handmade-feel surfaces with depth, craft, and color.

Ceramic tile is the workhorse of decorative tile — softer-bodied than porcelain, but the natural ally of artisan glazes, hand-formed shapes, and color depth that porcelain can't quite match. Lower water absorption than terracotta but with much of its character.

Common questions

Working with ceramic.

Is ceramic durable enough for floors?
PEI-rated glazed ceramic (PEI 3+) is fine for residential floors. For high-traffic or commercial floors, porcelain is the safer choice.
Can ceramic tile be used in a shower?
Yes on walls. For shower floors we recommend porcelain or a stone mosaic with appropriate slip rating.
