Marble
Quarried stone, polished or honed, no two pieces alike.
Real marble — quarried, sawn, and finished. Each slab is a one-of-one record of geologic time, with veining that no porcelain look-alike has perfectly replicated. We work with Italian Calacatta, Statuary, Carrara, plus rarer stones from Greece, Brazil, and Turkey.

Common questions
Working with marble.
- Does marble stain easily?
- Marble is naturally porous. Honed finishes hide etching better than polished. With a high-quality sealer and prompt cleanup of acidic liquids (citrus, wine, vinegar), it ages beautifully.
- What's the difference between Calacatta and Carrara?
- Carrara is the gray-veined, soft-toned background marble. Calacatta is whiter with bolder, more dramatic veining and typically a premium price.
- Can marble be used outdoors?
- Some marbles can — but California sun and pool chemicals can dull polished finishes over time. We recommend honed finishes for any exterior application.
